God’s dream

When you were younger, you probably dreamt of what you wanted to do in life whether it was a stewardess, football player or like me a playground leader.  Have you ever wondered where those dreams come from?

According to 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight (NLT), God gives us our dreams.  Since conception God has had a plan for us and gives us dreams throughout our lives to keep us pursuing and living those dreams.

Many of us get to the end of our lives and realize we haven’t really lived at all. Yes we have married, had children, worked a job to make money and pay bills and have done everything we have been raised to do right but still have this emptiness within us or are unfulfilled.

Why is that? Could you be living for someone else? Is it fear and afraid of change? Maybe you are just content. There is no right or wrong but learning to hear God’s voice and understanding that the dream you have, especially a good dream comes from God.  It is your life and your dream and if you are seeking more from life I encourage you to start seeking God and ask him what his plan is for you.

All my life, I would go back to church when my life was in turmoil or blame God when things went bad, but what I have learned over the past three years since returning to a church that teaches the bible is that those are the times we need to seek God, not blame him.

I encourage you to start reading the word, seek God and start living the dream he has placed inside of you.  By believing, it makes your dream possible but by faith it makes it real.

I am going to challenge you, if you really want to change your life and get off the hamster wheel to do a cost-benefit-risk analysis.  The cost comes in believing in God and yourself regardless of what your family, friends and peers think. When I first started seeking God, stopped drinking and started going back to church I met several obstacles because people couldn’t understand why I would change but I knew that God was calling me to change and I am so glad I did because everyone now accepts the change in me.  The benefit is the peace you find within yourself, seeking what your purpose is and living it. It is not easy, and there will be times you don’t believe, but you will begin to realize that right now in your life when things go wrong the first words out of your mouth are “God help me” or “why God” so why not start praying and talking to God and hearing his voice and plan for you. Lastly, the risk is you will lose people who have been in your life, you may take a few steps backwards to leap forwards, you will be temporarily lonely and lost, but once you start to hear from God and he directs your steps you will feel stronger, bolder and more confident and nothing or no one can stop you.

Start living today.
